J. E. Davis’s paintings begin with careful observation, honed by a keen understanding of the outdoor world and the animals that inhabit it.

His childhood interest in the natural world and art were enhanced by 22 years as editor of South Carolina Wildlife magazine where he worked with fellow natural resource professionals and many of our nation’s foremost wildlife artists.

His continuing intensive study of painting techniques, design and the effects of light and shadow allow him to express his passion for a natural world that was once familiar to all.
